The Hope Project gets our donations this quarter!

Our December charity of choice is the Hope Project, which raises awareness about human trafficking and helps victims heal. Check them out at or at their Facebook page.

Other nominees this quarter were The Arc Muskegon and Supper House. If you're looking for worthy causes this holiday season, we've just given you three great ideas right here at home, and you'll find plenty more on our Recipients page.

September Winner

Talk about men who care! This past spring, a group got together and formed the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Muskegon Lakeshore. They raised over $1 million for facilities and operations, expecting about 150 kids. They have over 300 kids enrolled from five school districts, and they are the recipients of our September donation.

Other nominees this quarter were Supper House and Meals on Wheels.

Help us direct our next donation!

We meet Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Fricano's Muskegon Lake, at 6 p.m. for just an hour. It's a chance to meet a lot of great guys who care about Muskegon as much as you do (and there's a cash bar, too).

Worthy organization needs accounting help

Family Promise of the Lakeshore, which won our quarterly donation in March 2012 and again in September 2013, needs help from an accountant.

Board President David Hoffman says, "Please, please if there is an accountant out there who would be willing to do an Account Review (not audit) for Family Promise", he would be ever so grateful. "First year would have to be pro bono and we'd pay thereafter."

If you're an accountant with some time to spare for a worthy organization, or if you know one, please consider Family Promise.

Mission for Area People wins again!

Our donations this quarter go to Mission for Area People, which also earned our very first donation back in December 2011. We're proud to support this local charity again to help it continue its 45 years of service to county residents living in poverty and extreme need.

Next meeting is June 17

Remember that our June meeting has been pushed back a couple of weeks because of scheduling conflicts with the venue, so we will meet Wednesday, June 17, at 6 p.m. Bring a friend!

Still time to donate to the Coalition for Community Development

We've collected $9,500 so far for the Coalition for Community Development. Thank you to everyone who has donated! That's still $1,500 less than our December donation, though, so if you haven't sent your check in, please do it today.

On March 4, we selected the Coalition for Community Development as our next recipient. This organization, based in Muskegon Heights, works to build strong families and communities through education.

Other nominees this quarter were past winners Sacred Suds and Family Promise of Muskegon County.
